Global ImageViewer (GIV) is a ground-breaking new software solution that fuses image processing functionality with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) support. By merging these technologies, GIV enables users to turn "raw" digital images into sophisticated image products that can be easily accessed and understood by others for decision making purposes. Designed specifically for the needs of the commercial imagery market, GIV is ideal for a variety of industries including: agriculture, city planning, environmental engineering, forestry, natural resource management, oil and gas exploration, real estate, telecommunications, and utilities.
High Performance Image Analysis Tools
The advanced image processing capabilities of GIV enables users to seamlessly fly over very large images to locate a particular Region of Interest (ROI). Once an ROI has been located, the zoom, pan or rotate functions can be used to reach the desired orientation of the image. A special zoom window is provided for times when it may be useful to magnify only a portion of the image rather than the image in its entirety.
To improve the appearance of an image during the analysis, there are a large number of Image Processing Operations (IPOs) that can be applied with a simple point and click. GIV's Image Sampler instantly offers a preview to allow the user to view the effects of applied IPOs to an image. After achieving the desired result, numerous actions can be performed to further assist in the analysis. Also, display level processing functions can be used to adjust the brightness, contrast and/or gamma to the image on the screen without actually modifying the image data itself.
GIS Support
GIV provides the capability to create a geo-registered workspace into which images, maps, vector layers or any other geo-registered file may be imported. As data layers are imported, they are automatically projected and placed in the correct geographic location. When working with geo-documents, the user is able to visualize the data concerning a region by changing the order in which the data sources are stacked. GIV also provides the tools to make individual layers translucent or to blend successive layers together.
Image Mosaics
GIV's image mosaic tool enables users to create a single seamless image from two or more overlapping images, literally enabling users to "see the big picture"
